Plastering Question

Smooth out a plastered bathroom ceiling

I'm finally getting around to repainting the bathroom ceiling however the paint is peeling / flaking badly so I'm in the process of scraping off all the paint on the ceiling. I'm not a DIY fan but I wanted to tackle this myself as it seemed like a fairly straight forward job. However, I'm having to scrape quite hard to take of the excess paint and as a result I'm leaving some scratches in the plastered ceiling.

I'm wondering what would be the best way for me to smooth out / patch up these scratches to ensure I have a nice smooth and even surface for painting over? Keeping in mind that the entire ceiling has these

Thank you for any advice
