Insulation

Loft insulation

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.00 PM

Hello, I've recently had my loft insulated and boarded to create a storage area but the company that carried out the work only insulated and boarded the centre area of the loft and roof and not the extremities. Is this common practice or corner cutting? I believe the area they quoted for boarding was the entire loft space, and after measuring the area they have actually done this is a good 30% less than that covered in the quotation. Same situation for roof thermal foil lining.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Going solely on your description, it sounds like a multitude of sins here. I'd be interested to know what method was used to create a storage area, especially as you say this is the only area they insulated. What material was used? Have they installed a raised floor? Why have they fitted thermal foil lining? Have you got any ventilation measures in place? Sounds like they couldn't make up their minds if they were trying to create a warm space or a cold space. Without being able to see the the nature of your property I should not judge so harshly, but it seems to me they've done everything back to front and probably is of no benefit to you whatsoever.
