Painters cork and paint cracking

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 2.45 PM

Partner cleaned bathroom, let it dry then put painters cork in corners, let it dry overnight. Then painted white emulsion on walls and over the painters cork in the corners. The next morning the paint have cracked in the corners all the way down. Any ideas guys? Thanks

It depends on how thick the corking was done and if it was a cheap cork, avoid any cork under £2 a tube!

Hi, It has cracked because most caulk cannot be painted over with emulsion. You need to seal it first with an oil based paint. Check the information on the tube. Thanks

Hi, If you are decorating a bathroom you have to use good quality bathroom sealant and paints as most products just do not last. I always use Unibond sealants and Dulux paint as they never let you down. Hope all goes well, all the best Jeremy

It sounds to me that it did not dry in time this could be due to cold or simply did not give it time to dry always use dulux caulk and never had this problem.
