Gas Cooker Ignition continually sparking

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 2.59 PM

Is it easy for someone who knows nothing about electrical jobs to fix this. The click click click click everytime I try to use the cooker is really beginning to grate on me. Eventually with some fiddling of the ignition switch I can make it stop, but only till the next time I need to use the cooker

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It sounds like the return spring within the gas ignition switch may be faulty / failed? I would suggest that as its a gas hob, you contact a gas engineer to resolve, as it may involve disconnecting the hob to rectify the problem?

Unplug the cooker from the socket and clean the fat that my cause the switch not to pull back,(oil splashes while cooking and it can stick everywhere!, this's the only fault that doesn't need electrical knowledge :) . Edris electrical
