Roofing Question

Curved strut

I have an old house (1850) and one of the struts in the roof have an odd shape. It has a straight side on one side and is curved on the other(so like a rally slim capital D) this makes it really thin in the top end. It look like it was made like this. The wood look healthy enough. Do anyone have any experience with this or have seen this before? I have tried to attach a picture but this page does not seem to allow me to do so.
Thank you

Impossible to say without pictures , why not put job on mybuilder in the carpentry & joinery section , it is free & you can get 2 or 3 opinions and then decide.

come across it regularly on older property's, the general rule with all roofs are if its not causing a problem don't touch it.
