HELP Dishwasher vs plinth

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 2.44 PM

Hi, I have just had an intergrated dishwasher installed but the plinth underneath has now been cut to accommodate the front door to the dishwasher when it is opened. This means when it is closed up there is a massive big black hole in the plinth which looks ugly. As I have enough plinth to start again could anybody advise me on how to overcome this issue?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You need to start again with that piece of plinth but since you have a piece there already you can use it to get the job done right quite easily. Open the dishwasher so the bottom of the door is in the gap, measure how much gap there is between door and plinth and when you cut a new piece transfer your measurements and raise the top of the cutout accordingly. You only need a gap of about 5mm but be sure to put some edging tape on the cutout to prevent damage from steam. Hope this help, Geoff

there has to be a slot in the plinth to allow the door to open but should not be that big as to be noticed
