About Walkergore Consulting

General skill / experience set:

I have had a very varied Architectural background with previous employments spanning some 34 years to date.
Previous Architectural Practices have been situated within the counties of London, Kent, Herefordshire Gloucestershire & West Wales. Throughout I gained both technical and design experience for projects such as Bespoke Dwellings and Residential Site Layouts, Extensions to dwellings, Barn conversions, Commercial Projects including Industrial and Retail projects, Education, Healthcare, Magistrate Courts, Leisure, Historic Buildings including Church extensions and New Vicarages, Arts Theatres and all manner of refurbishment schemes.

I have worked within Local Government for a County Council Architects Dept’s in and around West Wales namely Dyfed County Council. This element of my career spanned a period of just over 9 years where I worked within multi-disciplinary teams dealing predominantly with Education projects (New secondary schools and six form centres/ colleges) but also Social services, the Police and the Fire Brigade.

After the County Council went through central government re-organisation I finally decided to move back to Private Practice in Gloucestershire. I was appointed and began working with a small private practice of 8 staff, Roberts Gardner Ltd in Eastgate Street, Gloucester. This was back in early Jan 1998 and in my role as a Senior Technician I rose through the ever expanding practice as Team Leader, Associate, and Senior Associate and then finally being appointed as Associate Director of the company which later amalgamated in 2005 with another local practice called Limbrick Ltd, thus forming the new 90 strong practice of Roberts Limbrick Ltd.

With Roberts Gardner I initially worked on mainly large Industrial and commercial projects but as time went on and the practice grew, I became involved with WH Smith & Retail work. This expanded my experience in the field of Project Management. I was now dealing with fast track shop fit outs and retail planning. The work was spread across the whole of the British Isles and involved a lot of travelling and time away especially when WHSmith bought out the John Menzies chain in Scotland!
Along with all the run of the mill projects and clients that RG dealt with I was also heavily involved with clients such as;

Westbury Homes – Development of the Space4 timber frame system for roll out across their new houses and apartments
Gloucestershire Hospitals Foundation Trust and the 2gether Trust – Acute and Mental Health projects
Renishaw PLC – Development & refurbishment of their engineering workshop site in Woodchester. This project had some very tricky water problems within the existing machine shops and occupation required finishing the interiors to almost medical standards, including being completely waterproof!
