About The Cambridge Decorator

We are a husband and wife team who trained in Fine Art and have been decorating for a number of years. Our strong client focus led us to start our own business of which we are proud to be building a good reputation with many of our customers returning to us time and again.

At present we predominantly work on residential projects. We do a wide variety of jobs from hand painted kitchens, wallpapering and whole house projects to smaller jobs, for example; repairing some unsightly cracks or giving a small room a fresh lick of paint.

We often work for busy families with children and hectic lives. We think that good communication leads to happy customers so we provide a clear quotation and make sure that we communicate through every step of the process. Our customers are able to trust us to get the job done.

Case Study 1: Kitchen and Living Room Refresh
Here it was a simple case of brightening up 2 rooms that had become tired over time. We thoroughly cleaned the spaces and ensured the surfaces were properly prepared before painting. We are always happy to work on simple jobs such as this, its often surprising just how much difference this kind of work can make even if the colour change isn’t that big.

Case Study 2: Finishing a Large Open Plan Extension
Here our customer had a large living/kitchen/dining area primarily freshly plastered and asked us to paint this space for them and also to re-paint their hallway and downstairs cloakroom. As often happens with building projects the builders had finished but there were a number of small ‘snags’ that had to be resolved prior to painting; filling holes in the ceiling, repairing crack around doors etc. The older part of the house also had some areas where condensation had resulted in mildew, we were able to treat these areas and paint them with mould blocking paint before the final coats of paint. We were able to resolve all of these small issues for the customer and then paint the rooms to a high standard.

Case Study 3: Cambridge Townhouse Interior
Our customer had purchased a new build house and wasn’t happy with the developer’s basic finish. We painted the living room, downstairs cloakroom, entrance hall, stairs hallway, and two bedrooms. In this case our customer specified Farrow and Ball paint throughout and we were happy to ensure that all work was carried out to his exacting standards. For the living room the client specified a dark grey feature wall and we ensured that this was cut-in expertly against the lighter ceiling and walls. We also wallpapered the downstairs cloakroom ensuring that the strongly patterned wallpaper matched around lots of tricky corners and obstacles.
