About Sandown Masonry

Josh is an apprentice-served, City & Guilds Advanced Craft qualified bricklayer with experience in and around the construction industry that spans some 27 years. With a construction background that includes work on domestic & commercial property as well as teaching brickwork and general construction at higher and secondary levels, he is well placed to offer advice and support on projects of all sizes. Having also worked within the prison service for a number years, you can rest assured that your project is in safe and secure hands.
Julie is a degree-qualified, NEBOSH-trained engineer, whose day job as a Project Engineer for a major supplier of HVAC equipment to the oil & gas industry is put to good use, supporting Josh with technical and administrative support. Her organisation and communication skills are readily used to offer practical support and advice to clients. With earlier career highlights including an apprenticeship as a draftsman, this also enables us to offer a design and drafting service in support of planning & building regulation submissions.
Using the combined skills of both Josh and Julie, Sandown Masonry Ltd are well placed to offer a wide range of brickwork and general construction services on projects up to £250,000 in value. We take a great deal of pride in offering a high quality end product in order to build an excellent reputation. Using our own skills and only those of other, carefully selected sub-contract tradesman, we insist on work of a consistently high standard and aim to provide a thorough and personal service.

    Julie and Josh did a fantastic job with all our improvements. They made us feel very confident in their abilities from day 1 and did not disappoint. They sorted out everything we needed and the job was done on time, to an exceptional standard. Plus points for us were the continual updates we got on progress in the form of clear emails with pictures as we were not on site this was fantastic.     Josh and Julie did a very good job addressing an unusual problem. I was particularly impressed that they didn't claim to know the solution immediately; rather, Josh took the time to think about what the problem could be and didn't jump to conclusions.
    Josh and Julie worked very well together and accomplished the repairs very efficiently and tidily. We were very happy overall with the service and would be happy to commission Sandown again, and recommend them to others.

  • Remove dividing wall to create open plan kitchen

    Sandown did excellent work by knocking down part of a kitchen wall, inserting a support beam and re=plastering to a fine finish. Josh and his team kept us informed at each stage of the job, suggesting options which greatly improved the result. They were a great team, who demonstrated knowledge and skill. We would definitely use them again. They finished at 8 pm one evening, what commitment. They asked us if we minded them continuing! Josh, his wife Julie and the team communicated very well from Quote to End of Job. The work was done on price, on time and to a fine standard. We are very happy with the result.
