About Oliver Stacey (Painter & Decorator)

I have 17 years experience in the building trade, working with period restorations and modern home builds. I redecorated school halls, dealt with damp by fixing an insufficiently ventilated subfloor of an Edwardian terrace. I have restored damaged exterior woodwork for Georgian town houses. I've collaborated in complex converted developments, transforming a former industrial building into a residential home where high-spec skills are demanded repairing swimming pool equipment, and installing security gates designed by architects. My Design training & qualifications bring creativity to practical problem solving, an eye for detail and a wide appreciation of style. I can give advice on colour and finishes. Most of my work is domestic but I have been commissioned to adapt business premises to catch the eye of the public by painting a huge rear wall at a well known hair salon in Kew Gardens, London. I enjoy volunteer work and recently got involved on a children art project run by teachers and psychologists, their initiative focused on art to inspire youngsters at primary schools in a deprived area of Glasgow to gain confidence in creative expression. This was an amazing experience that resulted in an overwhelming release of images and sculptures from the children. To show them the power of ideas and the value of creativity, the team and organisers won them the top city centre exhibition space to showcase their work and let them speak about the experience to visitors and other children from other schools. Over the years I have developed a comprehensive understanding of buildings and building materials, and am equipped with the tools and handling skills for many aspects of property care, building and maintenance.
