About Cumbria Building and Plastering Services

I first got into the building trade at 18.

I laboured on my friends father Barry for just over a year, before he let me loose in the cupboard under the stairs,(on the trowel).

Twelve months after that he was sending me on my own jobs for him. I worked with Barry for five years, enjoyed every minute of it. One of my highlights with him,was that we plastered Cartmel race course, for a company called Askam. It looked fantastic, we did the inside and out. We also worked a lot in the lakes on big expensive houses. Under barry I learned all types of plastering, from skimming to wet dash.

Since leaving barry (on good terms) I have been self employed and worked for various people, who have all been satisfied with my work and are still sending me work today. One job I am particularly proud of, was a massive barn conversion in Kirby Stephen, biggest job to date I have done - six weeks it took! Living room ceiling had to be done on a three story scaffold.

I can skim, dry line ,plasterboard, artex covering, patch repair, wet/dry dash, floating, blocking out, wall quoins and k-rend.

I also like to do damp proofing (k11 tanking system).

I am a time served plasterer.
