About John Ryder & Son

We under undertake large Building alteration work along with repair and ongoing maintenance work in a variety of areas in the South West.

The family run business was started in Plymouth by John Ryder, apprentice trained plumber in the days when the horse and cart was mode of transport. The story has been passed on that John Ryder would regularly fall asleep on the way home from work and the horse would bring him home.

Existing customers have commented how they appreciate the long history and family ties within the business. Additionally the extensive list of "in house trades" usually avoid the need to get different contractors coming and going (and potentially falling out).

Over the years the business has built up good working relationships with local architects, structural engineers, planning negotiators and listed building specialists which are often consulted on our customers behalf.

We at more than happy to undertake small repair jobs. We have found that these often these prove to be an introduction to other future work or customers.
