This is emphasised by the fact that I (Julian Dodsworth) have been engaged in the trade for over 35 years and equipped with an excellent set of professionals, two of which are my sons. About J and C Dodsworth Building Company Ltd
Thirty years of experience, has abled me to acquire an abundance of knowledge which has proven useful in challenging applications.
After a constructive period in Germany, where I helped build multiple areas of infrastructure, I developed new knowledge which contributed to my ambitions of developing a successful company. To provide the foundations for a successful company, I worked for my father in law and a well established building firm, for a number of years.
After these experiences, my wife and I created the building firm which is existent today.
Myself and the team of quality tradesmen have acquired difficult challenges in the past, developing an entire care home complex to name a few. Executive houses have been a common build I have undertaken; developing renovations to meet very specific needs, Annex's for the disabled, Barn conversions and a fifteen plus roomed House rendered with stone walls created from hand masonry. This is not all, a large portfolio of my past applications derives from work of a smaller scale from large commercial renovations to smaller scale new builds and extensions.
The company is as strong as ever today with future assignments in the pipeline and an ever committed workforce of talented professionals who proud themselves on quality workmanship.
Qualifications
My son is fully qualified carpenter with all the crucial theory demands, and my other son is a NAPIT registered electrician who has also served all the relevant exams. I myself is time served and a member of the FMB group, Reg number 77437.

Public Liability Insurance

Kitchen extension. Extensions
Julian and his sons are lovely and everything started off well. Water was turned off during plumbing work for kitchen installation and ballcock malfunctioned when it was turned back on resulting in the house flooding. Julian was quick to arrive at the house and get things organised. Work started mid October and was delayed due to the flood. We transferred £10000 for some of the work completed until November.
An itemised invoice was never provided after numerous requests by both me and the insurance company. Insurance have not accepted the claim for work carried out by Julian for water damage due to this. They also pointed out that he is charging for having men on standby when the flood happened and as insurance didn’t agree on work he is still charging for their time. This was not agreed with us. We thought he was acting under a duty of care to put right what went wrong while work was being carried out by him and his team.
All costs for any extra work was never forthcoming even after being asked numerous times. Work was just carried out without agreeing the extra price. We have said we will pay as soon as itemised invoice is received. Only got a bill stating total amt + what it was for in general but without any breakdown of costs except for vat. Now Julian has sent us a bill (for work we employed him to do and the work for water damage being claimed from insurance) to be paid within 7 days or get 8% interest added.

Yes there was a communication break down but we have thankfully sorted everything out with the clients. As the insurance company quoting that we were charging for men on standby is laughable never heard off that before .

to build a double garage Extensions
Julian is a genuine person and a highly recommended builder.The price he quotes is the price you pay, the timescale he gives you is spot on , weather permitting.His pricing is very competitive without compromising on quality.
Thanks to Julian and his team I now have a well built, beautiful double garage along with a new dormer in one of the bedrooms carried out as an extra job by other members of his team.
I would use this builder again and would highly recommend Julian to everyone that needs a honest, reliable and experienced builder.

Test Holes to expose/ascertain foundation depth Groundwork & Foundations
Julian was prompt with his initial call and also all follow up calls . Very professional,knowledgeable ,turned up as agreed and always on time and a full days work . I would definitely use this company again .
