About DM Carpentry & Building

In 1979 I did a 6-month TOPS government crash retraining course in carpentry/joinery/cabinetmaking.

I thereafter spent a year on various building sites doing 1st/2nd fix work, then a year making mainly all manner of beds and tables in a small workshop.

From the end of 1981 I was a member of a building cooperative for two years before setting up DM Carpentry and Building, employing and keeping in work half a dozen tradespeople over a period of 8 years (small to medium renovations/refurbishments of mainly private houses including some extensions and structural work).

Since late 1991 I have been a one man band working mostly in private houses. Fitted wardrobes, cabinets, sash and casement windows (both repair and renewals), staircases on the carpentry side to bathrooms (including plumbing/tiling).

I can honestly say that I have always worked to a high standard without cutting corners so have never had to be ashamed of any of my finished work but am to this day most pleased with the restoration work I've done over a number of years on a handful of Georgian houses in different London locations (doors/windows/shutters/panelling/ timber cornicing/staircases)
