I am a local builder to Barnoldswick & the surrounding areas. I have over 19 years experience in the construction trade & am a member of Lancashire Safe Trader with many happy customers. I am a stickler for detail and will not be happy unless a job is done to the best standard. There's no better feeling than seeing the smile on a clients face on completion.

About Darren Smith Bricklayer

With over 19 years experience I began as an apprentice upon leaving school at 16. I have a wide range of experience from brickwork on new build houses,schools, factory units, shops, sport centres & supermarkets. I am skilled in brick, block and stonework and have worked on housing sites across Lancashire. Over the past 6 years I have moved into more private work, such as private house builds, extensions, garden & retaining walls, all aspects of flagging, driveways, pointing, etc. It's a job I love & have never looked back from.
Having worked in the building trade so long I have a broad knowledge of all aspects of building and have qualified and skilled tradesman who can assist me in other areas, eg joinery, electricians, plumbing and plastering. Which means I can offer to complete the whole project and guarantee all work.
You are only ever as good as your last job, so I make sure that every job is completed to the highest standard.

Qualifications

I have levels 1,2 & 3 in bricklaying. Giving me an advanced craft CSCS gold card (equivalent of city and guilds). I am health and safety qualified.

  • Rebuild front wall and driveway pillars

    Darren did an excellent job of building stone walls and driveway pillars at my home. He was polite and did his utmost to make sure I chose the exact materials I required. Him and his assistant worked tirelessly in very hot conditions and tidied everything away every evening. His quote was reasonable and his professionalism was exemplary. I would have no hesitation in recommending Darren and if I need work doing again I would definitely call on his assistance. I am really pleased with the work he has done.

  • REAR EXTENSION, PORCH & GARDEN WALL

    Darren was employed part way though the build, having already done some of the work myself. He built up from the foundation to the wall plate, basically all the brick and block work including a concrete floor. Getting me to a stage where I continue with the build myself.

    I was very happy with both Darren's professional approach and the quality of work. Having previously spoken to a couple of other tradesmen, within a few minutes of speaking to Darren he very quickly became the obvious choice. His quote was reasonable but you also got a sense he understood the work. He is punctual and works hard throughout the day. Communication was constant and he ran all decisions and materials by me first. The building inspector was happy at every stage of inspection.

    I would recommend Darren and if asked will pass his details onto a friend.

  • Blocking out window

    Darren was exceptionally professional through out, displayed good conduct and was always timely, I found him to be efficient and very helpful.

    He was assigned to block out a window at a high story building, the work was carried out to very high standards and cleanly.

    I highly recommend Darren, as he is clearly good at his job.
