    Rick did a first class job of our small bathroom.

    Rick was very engaging from the start, and put in time to understand what we wanted to do. Rick and his team gave us loads of sound advice about what we could and couldn't do, what would look good and what wouldn't, and upfront honest information about what things would cost. Rick was a good communicator, and kept us updated with any changes/alterations/issues.

  • Board attic for storage and fit new attic access hatch

    Rick and his team did a great job of converting our attic for storage.

    Rick is very friendly and knowledgeable and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend consulting him for any home improvement, big or small.

    His quote was reasonable, it was good meeting him and he provided excellent communications throughout.

    I particularly welcomed his thoughts and ideas on how the job could be best completed to give us what we wanted rather than just what we asked for.

  • Fit new spindles to bannister and rail.

    Wouldn't recommend or use again. Rick and Mark are nice guys and offered some helpful advice on other things we're doing around the house, but we were disappointed with the standard of their work. Rick fitted the bannister spindles but didn't fit a base rail like he told us he was going to do. Mark plastered our hallway (walls and ceiling), we were disappointed with the end result. But to be fair to Mark he did come back to try and rectify what he'd done, which we appreciated, but it's still poor quality and extra work needs to be done before we can paint.
    Claro Design and Build's reply:

    I used a plasterer to help out with the job, which I didn't normally use. I left him to do the job. The client called me the day after to complain about quality of the finish. I then called the plasterer to relay the client’s comments and he promised to go back and sort it out, which he did. As far as the spindle work went, I discussed with the client in advance that the spindles on the landing area could be finished onto a timber that was already in place and said that if it wasn't possible, that I would remove the base timber and finish them on the nosing around the opening, which he agreed to. I fitted their sink taps, for free and provided receipt to charge kitchen company for getting wrong. I think their feedback was a bit scathing.
