    Chris is a very experienced and knowledgable tradesman. He and his bricky-mate Kev had to tolerate some pretty awful weather during the build. They persisted, communicated well to manage my expectations as obviously the job wasn't completed as quickly as hoped. They always turned up on time, were very polite, courteous and personable and surpassed my expecations with a really solid building.
    In testament to this, I subsequently re-hired Chris for two additional construction jobs, which I couldn't have done without him.
    Chris' very down to earth character assures you that you aren't going to be conned and every job will be done to the best standard, so I can whole-heartedly recommend him.

    We engaged Chris on 31st May to convert our garage into two rooms.
    We could see from his previous feedback reports that he was experienced, knowledgeable and most important of all to us reliable.
    Having established that he had previous experience of converting a garage into the two rooms as outlined and by late August, we accepted his estimate. The work began on the 18th June by the 21st July I only had the job about a quarter completed. However, by 15th August he phoned me to say he couldn't continue to do my job as his main job was far from completion! He agreed to try and organise for an experienced colleague to come and replace him. He said he would be in touch within the next two days but have waited for another week without hearing I felt I had no alternative but to inform him that I could not wait any longer so I reluctantly would have to break my contract with him. I didn't hear anything further from him! My disappointment and frustration didn't end there because I have just been able to engage another builder who on inspecting the work has informed me that the work he has done, has not been carried out professionally, is not to my specification and has not in any case been carried out with reasonable care and skill. It is hard to believe that the man who came to us was the same person who had such wonderful glowing feedback on this website previously. What went wrong ?

    The job posted was for the construction and fitting of a gate and fence for Mr Bonehill and the completion of which he was very pleased with both in terms of the quality of work and the way in which it was managed. He has previously provided a very positive reference for this work on this website, which it is noted has now disappeared.
    My appointment to carry out the subsequent work on the garage was based upon his experience of my own work and not just on the feedback on this site.
    It was extremely unfortunate that work that was required by another contractor for the garage was late in taking place which then pushed back the time I was needed into the middle of a major project I was already committed to and I had explained that this might cause a problem.
    I will not comment on his statement about the quality of work as I am a professional that takes pride in the quality of my work and there are plenty of positive reviews that will support my ability to do a good job.

    Chris Mason has made a very good job of the utility as I specified, and also made sensible suggestions for some easy additions to improve the finished result. He provided an accurate quotation and stuck to it. He and his team turned up reliably on time, and always let us know in advance when to expect them and what they planned to do each day. Some of the work was necessarily a little disruptive and he organised this to be done when we were away. His attention to detail is very good and he left the site clean and tidy each day. I cannot fault the work done or how easy Chris made it to use his services and I would recommend him without hesitation.

    Very disapointed the fence is wobbly and I have to pay someone else to rectify this.He did not use spikes to protect the wooden posts or cap them.I contacted him after payment to see if he would come back out,no joy.f you are paying for a fence it should be done properly? Without me having to ask for things like spikes? Expensive mistake.

    I was asked to supply & erect a new fence of posts & panels the same height as the existing fence. A quote was given to carry this out and was accepted. I was not asked to supply spikes as part of this quote as it would have put the job outside of the budget.
    I arrived on the day with 5ft panels the same as the existing ones but after I had put up 3 panels I was asked to change them for 6ft ones instead, which I did without charging the additional cost for the larger panels. When I left the customer was very pleased with the job.
    The complaint has not come from my client but from her mother who felt her husband, a landscape gardener, could do a better job. I am sorry if she is not satisfied with the work I carried out but my client was.

Within 3 hours of visiting me to look at job Chris had already phoned and left message with quotation which was very competitive.     Chris Mason was instructed to tile around and above the all units and built-in appliances of our completely renovated kitchen, using tiles we had chosen but supplying his own adhesives and matching grouting. We noted he first cleared all work areas and put down dust sheets as necessary. After the job was finished to our satisfaction he removed all dust sheets, tools, etc., and swept and hoovered up. We feel the job quality was excellent. Tile placement was carefully pre-planned, surfaces prepared, tiles laid level and evenly spaced and grouting neatly done. Where tiles needed cutting the result was neat and tidy with no gaps beneath switch plates, etc. On completion the new tiling was freed of surplus grout and surfaces polished. The job was completed within the time and at the price quoted us. We were impressed! Chris comes over as a likeable if brusque man and a competent and considerate builder. He seemed well equipped (tools, etc), took trouble to determine exactly what we wanted done, checked for possible problem areas, took time to prepare the job and then got on with it. He doesn't smoke nor does he stop to gossip. When we asked him for advice one feels he knows what he's talking about. He has done various jobs for us over the last three years and we have come to appreciate his skills. We would certainly consider him for any future work in our house or garden.
