  • Render the bottom of one outside wall

Craig, gave a fair quote for the rendering and asked about the rest of the garden. He has payed slate slabs and turfed the rest along with his assistant Jay. He was speedy and self motivated. The whole project has taken less than a week with a bit of help from me moving the materials round to the back of the flat.

  • Living room refurb

We had a job that required wall and ceiling prep work, involving stud framing, plasterboarding, bonding and skimming. Craig is a good guy who knows his trade and got the job done in a timely fashion to a decent standard. He offered to come back to prep the walls for most coating and snagging. He was able to provide photo evidence of the structural framing of the load bearing wall as requested. I would be happy to recommend him for plastering and prep work.

  • Outdoor rendering GF facade of Victorian terrace

I contacted Craig to do my GF front facade and 1st floor windows sills, lintel (filling, sanding and painting etc). He came to asses and start the job quickly. The work ended up being a bit stressful due to my neighbour but Craig appeased her when other builders would probably have lost it. Sadly most of the stress came after this when I felt the job was un fished and to a poor standard. This included areas that weren’t painted at all, dogdy painted window sills (something I didn’t ask for but sadly now have had to keep as it’s hard to remove), imperfections in the filling work and paint on my bins, pathway, bricks and gutters.
Craig was quick to tell me he’d sort it but in all honesty it felt like as soon as he’d taken my money he lost interest (I had stupidly already paid in full). He promised me a ‘proper’ painter and decorator to sort it out (why I wasn’t getting a proper painter and decorator in the first place I don’t understand…. ) and when we’d organised a date to sort it he slept in leaving his painter and decorator friend waiting. We had to reorganise multiple times after he let me down many more times and all in all it has felt like a battle that has lasted just short of 5 months for a job that should have taken 5 days. The job is now passable, but I did expect better and has caused an inordinate amount of inconvenience. Unfortunately I wouldn’t use Craig again which is a shame as he did good interior plastering job a few years ago and I’d had no complaints.

    CA Plasterers's reply:

No one takes negative feedback lightly and of course it is disappointing to hear. All I would like to state is I went back 6!!!! times and every time there was something else picked on and every time I worked with the client to make things right but some people can't be pleased. To state I was not interested once money was paid is completely untrue and insulting. What's more we parted on good terms last week, to receive a negative feedback several days later on a Sunday night felt like a kick in the teeth, especially after all efforts were being made to satisfy the client at a considerate cost to myself I might add.
