About AGL Heating & Building
Where do i start? This customer repeatedly kept "adding things to the job", quoting that i said i would do "this" and "that" giving "quotes" from conversations she'd had with other builders. My written quotations are very detailed so that there is no confusion with regards to what i have priced for. I also take notes when i survey a job..
When we started the prep work, it turned out that all the internal plasterwork in the bathroom was shot/damp. The only way i could carry out a professional job was to take the plaster back to bare brick and re- "dot & dab" the entire room. Unfortunately the boiler was also in the bathroom so we had to remove it otherwise the new boards would have stopped at the boiler, which wouldnt have looked right. The customer was informed of this before we proceeded, (all this work may i add is one of the "freebies") Can i also stress that this was in the middle of summer so she was not without heating!! The customer also had a seperate W.C and basin.
As for the tiles which the customer supplied!, they were the cheapest, nastiest, Home Base tiles i have ever seen. The edges/corners kept chipping when we cut them. The customer didnt want to buy more so we had no choice but use them (3 or 4 in total). I am a perfectionist so i wasnt happy!
The customer advised me of a crack in one of the tiles in the bathroom, so i made an appointment to see her, travelled the 90 minute drive (3hr round trip and £30 diesel) to Morcambe and she wasnt in! When i rang her she advised she had forgot and wouldn't be home for 2 hours. I made another appointment which really speaking she should have been charged for. When i arrived at the job, the crack was on a tile on the boxing in!! One of the kids had obviously stood on it. She tried to say it was like that! Why was there no grout in the "crack" then? As for jumping off the 4th step? This house is full of damp!! I would have fell through the floor, SERIOUSLY.
I have a list as long as my arm of extra works i did for this lady, i didnt charge as i felt sorry for her at 1st, she kept breaking down in tears as i revealled more and more problems with this house which she had just bought.
I have the same 2 numbers and have done for years. No emails recieved.
The problem with her tap is that the cap (hot label) has fell off and she cant get it back on... (its screwed on. So why was it unscrewed?) The same goes for the shower caps. Children again maybe? I have done enough "freebies" for this customer, if i was a big outfit company then these extras would be chargeable.
Please see my previous feedback before making a decision as to what type of tradesman i am. I actually lost money on this job. Its people like her who take advantage of peoples good nature. Some sort of deterant should be available to stop it.
