We've had real problems with Donovan from Symphony & Co who tiled our kitchen floor. We wanted a herringbone pattern which he said he was able to do. The first concerns we had were around the amount of materials (particularly adhesive) he asked us to purchase for the job - the amount seemed excessive and this was confirmed by a number of people. When we double-checked with Donovan he assured us it was right.
The main problem was then with the actual tiling, as Donovan did not lay the herringbone pattern so it was perpendicular to the wall, and instead it went off on a diagonal. When we saw the job we spent a good half an hour arguing the problem before Donovan finally conceded and admitted he had made a mistake. We have since had to have the floor re-tiled (we went with a different company) and asked Donovan to cover the cost of the replacement tiles we had to buy (not surprisingly, there was plenty of adhesive left over that the new tiler could use). Donovan originally agreed to reimburse us in instalments but has since refused to cooperate in paying us back, leaving us out of pocket. We will therefore need to go through arbitration or small claims which is a huge hassle. If Donovan did not know how to lay a herringbone he should have been upfront about this, as did some of the other tilers were who we got round to quote for the job. I hate leaving a bad review but this whole process has been a nightmare for us so I would exercise caution if using this company.
