tiling 3 walls and the floor in a small bathroom
Donovan did the job in time but the standard of work is not what I would expect - some parts look unfinished and quite untidy. Also, he has pored some of the remaining grout onto the garden wall which looks really bad and I need to have it cleaned which will damage the bricks somewhat. I have just read in previous reviews that this has happened a few times before. I hope lesson can be learned!

    Bathroom walls and floor

He met me to look at the job. We agreed the price for all the works and agreed start date. Job was done in 2 stages and turned up each time and finished the job to a good standard. Would be happy to use him again

Tiling bottom half of small toilet

The standard of work was good. Time keeping, not so. He made no effort to clean and tipped the water from the grout and mortar bucket on the garden and path. Not what I had hoped. He is polite and get's on with the job with minimum fuss. The job was different to what he expected, smaller actually, and he adjusted his price, which is fair and very reasonable. We would recommend him but be aware you may need to be slightly flexible. If it where not for the time keeping and tidyness it would be '5 stars'.

Floor and wall tiling in the bathroom and kitchen

We've had real problems with Donovan from Symphony & Co who tiled our kitchen floor. We wanted a herringbone pattern which he said he was able to do. The first concerns we had were around the amount of materials (particularly adhesive) he asked us to purchase for the job - the amount seemed excessive and this was confirmed by a number of people. When we double-checked with Donovan he assured us it was right. The main problem was then with the actual tiling, as Donovan did not lay the herringbone pattern so it was perpendicular to the wall, and instead it went off on a diagonal. When we saw the job we spent a good half an hour arguing the problem before Donovan finally conceded and admitted he had made a mistake. We have since had to have the floor re-tiled (we went with a different company) and asked Donovan to cover the cost of the replacement tiles we had to buy (not surprisingly, there was plenty of adhesive left over that the new tiler could use). Donovan originally agreed to reimburse us in instalments but has since refused to cooperate in paying us back, leaving us out of pocket. We will therefore need to go through arbitration or small claims which is a huge hassle. If Donovan did not know how to lay a herringbone he should have been upfront about this, as did some of the other tilers were who we got round to quote for the job. I hate leaving a bad review but this whole process has been a nightmare for us so I would exercise caution if using this company.
