Appalling experience. My wife and I tried to treat Mr Highley and his assistant well and it appeared to start with that things were going very well. We went away for a couple of weeks and when we came back he had sacked his assistant for poor workmanship. We did notice after a week or so more that he was not happy in his work and his own workmanship was becoming substandard, so I politely highlighted some issues and asked him what the problem was. He announced that he did not want to be a builder any more and he would collect his tools the following day and leave the job. We were stunned - the shell of the extension was there, but no roof, windows or doors. He then decided to take me to the small claims court for work he said he had not been paid for. Meanwhile I had found numerous problems left by his shoddy workmanship which would require remedial work and I could not find a reputable builder who was prepared to take the job on, so I was forced to project manage and do a lot of the work myself. I counterclaimed and the court found in my favour although for nowhere near the actual extra costs he had caused me. He also lied throughout the court hearing. He refused to pay anything until I sent High Court Bailiffs in and I am now receiving regular payments. Horrible individual, don't touch him with a barge pole.

I am very disappointed in the way that I have been treated by Chris . Back in January I asked Chris to come and fix my roof. It took weeks for him to turn up to fix some loose tiles and the chimney flashing that was letting in water to the upstairs rooms, but he finally did the work. Then I noticed a few months later after heavy rain that the chimney breast was still damp and seemed to be letting in more water. When I asked him to come back to see what went wrong he made a brief visit to the house and admitted that he had fixed the wrong chimney by accident. He then assured me he would fix the roof asap. However despite texting him and trying to speak to him on the phone over the last 3 months he still hasn't fixed the flashing. On every occasion his excuse has been that the weather was bad and that he would do it on the next dry day, or simply that he had forgotten about it. Over the last 3 months, despite the weather, there have been plenty of occasions where he could have done the work. I am now going to have to find another tradesman to do the work which he has already charged me for.

Prompt, tidy and good value for money. Would definitely hire this gentleman again.

Quick response, good communication throughout and chimney fixed with no leaks since. Very happy. Christopher even tidied up a loose aerial cable whilst he was up there.

What a nice man, turned up just as he said he would and sorted out the leak within half an hour, very pleased, would use again. Thank you Chris.

All works undertaken to a good standard and without any delay.

Do NOT use this builder if you want; - good communications (he doesn't answer the phone, texts or emails) - promises kept (he doesn't do the second part of work agreed) - a receipt (he doesn't provide a receipt) - a chance to inspect the work before money is demanded (long delay before he came and then money wanted within a week) We have been badly let down by this builder and I cannot understand how he remains registered on this site. He certainly does not behave in a professional manner.

I had no problem with this bulider. He was very polite and very well manered. He was polite and did the job with no problem. Would defintaly hire him again and recommoned him to any one else.
