Ten tradesmen who put the ‘great’ into Great Britain!
Following the success of its Job of the Year competition, MyBuilder highlights ten top tradesmen who are a credit to their profession.
MyBuilder.com, the leading online marketplace for homeowners to find quality tradesmen, this week announced the winner of its first ever Job of the Year award.
The competition aimed to find tradesmen who went above and beyond to do a brilliant job against the odds. Over 1,600 homeowners from all over the UK entered, nominating great MyBuilder tradesmen they had used in the past year and telling the stories of how they saved the day in their homes. Members of the public were then invited to vote for the most inspiring tales.
After a closely-fought contest, the 12 entries with the most votes went into a shortlist, and a MyBuilder panel chose Martin Robinson, of MJO Limited in Sleaford, Lincolnshire, as the ultimate winner. He worked tirelessly on a huge renovation project for homeowner Ellouise Hempstead - and even sourced and supplied thousands of pounds worth of materials for free!
Martin and Ellouise won £5,000 cash to split between them - and you can read more about the winning entry here: www.mybuilder.com/competitions/joty-2017
However, Martin isn’t the only builder who deserves recognition. The competition uncovered dozens of tradesmen who really do put the ‘great’ into Great Britain - so here are nine more nominees who knocked our socks off!
Dream come true
Shane Harrison - of ASM Electrical Taunton in Somerset - helped a little boy with muscular dystrophy get the hot tub he’d been dreaming of. And he wouldn’t take a penny for the job. Read more here.

Commenting on the entries, MyBuilder CEO and Founder Ryan Notz said:
“People hear so many horror stories about cowboy builders, so it’s easy to forget that there are thousands of excellent tradesmen all over the UK. During the competition we heard so many inspiring stories; this is just a small handful of them.
“We’d like to thank every one of our nominated tradesmen for helping to restore people’s faith in the profession."
