Extension design - Architecture job in Stamford, Lincolnshire

Job description

We are in the final stages of the purchase of a 1990s detached property near Stamford Lincs. Our intention is to extend the kitchen to make and open plan Kitchen Dinner. The extension would be in the region of 4m x 5m wtih a pitched roof consistent with the property. We wish to employ an architect to advise on the extension options and building/planning requirements and to draw up the appropriate plans.

Feedback for Property Surveys Devon

We wanted an extension (approximately 40 m2) and some significant refurbishment to the house we had just bought. We needed an architect and someone to guide us through the planning process. To be honest I was very wary of selecting the right architect, having just moved to the area, we did not have the luxury of having a personal recommendation. After reading his reviews, but more importantly having met him face-to-face, we selected Phil to do the work. As it turned out that was a great decision.
The first thing to note is that Phil is very busy and for a very good reason. He is clearly extremely experienced, professional and very well organised. For that reason, he may take a while to get back to you initially, but when he has been engaged, he is very responsive.
Phil took our jumbled ideas and came up with a set of plans. He established our extension was in the scope of permitted development and put us in contact with a Building Control Officer who was able to turn the plans around (literally) within a few days.
When the builder uncovered an issue with the existing kitchen roof, Phil redid the structural calculations and sent us the details for fitting an additional RSJ within a few hours. And this was several weeks after we had already paid the final amount of money we owed him for the work! He has in fact continued to answer questions from the builder and guide him through the build well after he could reasonably have expected his responsibilities to end.
