Built-in wardrobe - Carpentry job in Tooting, South London

Job description

Previously-posted details. This listing is to enable me to give feedback to the carpenter who did the work.

We need an old built-in wardrobe removed and a new one constructed which will give us more and deeper hanging space as well as additional storage shelving, likely through some kind of an extension across the adjoining wall (the wall with radiator in the photo). Current unit size is 206 (h) x 116 (w) x 46 (d) cm. We find that it is not deep enough for men's clothes to be hung. We would require the removal & disposal of the old unit, design and build of the new unit, along with decoration of the new unit. The style of the unit would need to match that of our home (Edwardian/Victorian), and we are open to suggestions from you craftsmen.

We had an excellent experience with Shem, who made a real effort to understand what we were after and offer options for the build. He has a nice eye for the aesthetics of the house we have and built the unit in keeping with the features of the house. Exceptionally considerate of our home, he kept the disruption and mess to a minimum and made sure the site was clean every evening on departure. He also has a very high level of expectation for his own work. Even though we weren't that worried about it, he insisted on an additional coat of paint on the new wardrobe to ensure that the finish and coverage was absolutely perfect. I recommend him highly. We are scheduling him in for further projects already.
