Tiling of living room and base of stairs - Restoration & Refurbishment job in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire

Job description

  • Lay new tiles: Living room
  • Already purchased tiles, fit only

Customer description

I would like to replace the carpet in the living room and area at the base of the stairs towards the rear door with porcelain tiles. The tiles have been bought already, with 10% included for wastage. (Each tile is 660mm x 150mm - reclaimed wood effect). By my estimate, the area to be laid is 20 sq.m. so I have bought 22 sq.m. I would also like underfloor electric heating, but prefer to discuss with you before purchase. I would also like an opinion on the best grout to use. The place where I have purchased the tiles have said I can get 25% off the adhesive if I buy from them, but I have not bought it yet. The floor will join some rooms which already have underfloor heating, so it needs to be level with the already laid floors at the door entrances. I would hope that you dispose of the old carpet as well. I understand the sub-floor to be concrete in the room itself and the base of the stairs. The room is rectangular in shape, apart from where the hearth is, and a 'cut out' due to the stair case running at right angles at the back end of the room, and accounts for around 16.5 sq.m of the job.

Feedback for A. Freeman

Gave great advice from the beginning. Worked solidly throughout the whole job and tidied up afterwards. He repaired the cracks in the concrete floor before doing a superb job of both laying the underfloor heating equipment, and the tiling on top. Very reasonable rates. Perfect choice.
