I am in the process of doing up my flat and managed to nick one of the mains wires to a wall socket with a circular saw. The switch now trips and, when I eventually switched it back on, the socket then blew up (crackling, then a loud pop). I'd like to a) have the socket made safe and b) get it moved about a foot or so along the wall (the wall in question is going to be knocked down as part of some building works I'm getting done soon, so I'd like any electrics moved out of the way).

Because my flat is currently undergoing refurbishment, there is really good access to the walls and under the floors (ground floor flat), so that should make the work a bit easier to carry out.
