Require a retaining wall to be taken down and replaced and to have some decking installed on two terraces as well as wooden stair access
- Added 16th June, 2012 : A little more detail on the job. There are four levels including ground level in our back yard. We have three retaining walls of which two are less than 1 meter and are cracked and we are hoping that they can be repaired and camouflaged or taken out and replaced with a wooden fence. The third wall is about 1.6 meters in height and does not appear to have any drainage and is 1 brick thick with a few columns and is bowing. We would need this wall to be taken down and replaced with either another brick wall or sleeper wall (whichever is cheapest) Then the area above this wall to be lawn and decking to be installed, with steps leading down to the lower level.
The lower level will need a portion to be taken down to ground level for access to a sliding door, to be installed. This lower level will then be split into two with a garden fence of which one portion to have decking installed.
There is further work in the front garden, budget permitting and inside two arches to be squared off.
Feedback for i.w.j building and maintenance
I had a few quotes in before deciding to go with Ian's company and he was very competitive with his prices and I felt that I could be comfortable working with him. He communicated about the work in an efficient and knowledgeable way.
He was very accommodating in doing the work in a time that was convenient to us.
The work on the wall was completed to a high standard and he made suggestions about how to finish off the steps and also suggested a ledge on the wall that has definitely contributed to the overall look that our patio will have when that is completed. We are definitely having Ian come back to do our patio as well. His team also needs mentioning as they worked extremely hard and were very pleasant to have around. They were all punctual and polite.
In our opinion Ian is trustworthy and a reliable person and we would not hesitate to recommend his work to anyone.
