Job description

Hi,

We need two lengths of laminate worktop replacing in our kitchen. One length is approx 150cm. The second run is approx 240cm and contains the sink and hob so will require cut outs to accommodate these. These two runs are alongside each other but offset by approx 30cm due to an alcove.

The current sink is round and does not have a draining board. We would like this replaced by a square style sink with draining board. The draining board will sit above existing integrated dishwasher - I believe this is do-able but would welcome advice. Would like a new sink waste trap to be provided and fitted with the sink.

We want to retain the existing gas hob.

Exact laminate tbc but likely to be Duropal and we'd like upstands to be fitted as well. If you can supply Duropal at a reasonable price, that would be great. I will be choosing the colour over the next couple of days.

Finally, the guy who fitted the kitchen originally has put two 90 degree bends in the waste pipe one after another. This leaves it prone to blocking so if it won't add a lot to the price, it would be good to see if this arrangement can be improved while the worktops are off and the waste more easily accessible

So summary of job:

  • Supply and fit 2 lengths of laminate: Approx 150cm run and approx 240cm run which contains sink and hob
  • Supply and fit sink in existing location but to include draining board over integrated dishwasher. Replace existing waste trap
  • Supply mixer tap (location moving from left of sink bowl to right of sink bowl)
  • Fit upstands
  • Water seal and make good
  • Remove all waste including old laminate

Pictures of current worktop here if this site lets me post them http://i53.tinypic.com/25k5r7o.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/vqqslz.jpg http://i52.tinypic.com/2w6z4ns.jpg

We'd like the job done in the next 3 weeks max. If you want to come and take a look (Streatham Hill), Monday to Weds evening this week from 7pm onwards should be ok but please contact first.

Thanks --James

Luis replaced our kitchen worktops for us for a competitive price - approximately 30% cheaper than the next best quote. We agreed a date a couple of weeks in the future and he arrived within an hour of the agreed start time (which for me is acceptable). He had 2 colleagues along to assist him.

The team were happy to drive to a local supplier from whom I had ordered the worktops and collect for me.

It wasn't possible to get the 4m worktop up the stairs to our first floor flat so Luis had to measure and cut to size outside which he was happy to do. A further problem arose in that the upstands I had ordered were too tall to fit under the counter top plug sockets (my fault for not measuring the height). This could have been a real problem as the matching worktop had already been cut and so couldn't be returned but Luis just shrugged and said "It has to be fixed" and proceeded to shorten the upstands by approx 2 inches. along their entire length to allow them to fit under the plugs.

The worktop fitting has been executed to a high standard, a new sink was plumbed in as requested and the hob re-installed. The worktop has been well sealed along it's full length.

Whilst Luis was at the property, I asked whether he would be able to undertake a small plastering repair job and remove and brick up a redundant boiler vent which they did.

I'd happily recommend Luis to others
