External window redecoration - Painting & Decorating job in Haddington, East Lothian

Job description

8 year old house with modern style sash windows.
Total of 17 windows with an average size of 700mm x 1300mm mostly ground floor, but 4 on 1st.
Also 1 gable end weatherboard needs redecoration above 1st floor.

This is not a conventional paint job. We require this to be done in linseed oil based paint (which we can supply). The work would therefore involve stripping back old paintwork (still only original coats from new and an increasing amount now missing!) as much as possible. This is important as the more bare wood then the better absorption of the oil in the next stage and so the longevity of the new paint, less likelihood of a patchy finish and faster drying times.

Once stripped back then a coat of warm linseed oil is applied. This followed by 3 coats of linseed oil based paint.

Work can really only be done between late spring and early autumn otherwise danger that the drying time becomes too long.
