We would like a new fireplace supplied and installed whilst retaining the old surround and marble (just replace the brass surround and fire). Not sure if the gas is connected as we have just moved in. Have tried turning the old fireplace on and gas is not coming out. Previous owner had a new boiler installed by British Gas who put a new (wider pipe) gas feed around the side of the house to the kitchen (other end of the house) - don't know if this has affected the supply to the fire place.
