Thomas is a lovely guy but two key issues prevent me from giving him a positive review and recommending him whole-heartedly: quality of finish and length of time the job took.
The majority of the decorating work was carried out by a colleague of Thomas's called Schumek (sic) who clearly didn't enjoy working on older properties. His attention to detail was poor - none of the wood work was properly prepped before painting, so holes / chipped paintwork were left unfilled, filler unsanded, plus new paint drips, dust, dirt and bristles left stuck in the new paintwork throughout. He literally just painted over the top of window locks and fittings, making no effort to remove them!
Thomas did attempt to rectify the numerous quality issues which I raised on 3 separate occasions throughout the 3 week job (which I was originally told would take a week), and while he did improve things, I was disappointed that his idea of a quality finish was so very different from mine. That said, it did seem like everything that could go wrong with this job did go wrong, so perhaps I was just unlucky.
Good points: I'm impressed with the two new walls that they plastered (another colleague of Thomas's) and they did a good job putting up my giant wallpaper mural, ceiling rose and light fitting. Thomas is very keen to make you happy - he's still offering to complete some extra odd-jobs for free - but I just wish the original job had been completed to standard we agreed at the start.
