My wife and I embarked on a 38sqm extension in March 2015. It included 3 steel beams, with 1 across the entire back of the property. The existing kitchen and dining room was extended, including a new room and bathroom. We entered the project with a degree of uncertainty. I was keen to choose a professional, trustworthy builder thus avoiding arguments and miscommunications. We met John twice. We were impressed by his easy manner, past experience, professional knowledge, reasonable price and equally, his excellent reviews. The project started in March 2015. John was present throughout. He volunteered updates, left the site clean and made the process as comfortable as possible. No easy feat, as we were still residing at the address with children. The project finished within the time scale and on a happy note. Other than the obvious bias of my wife and I, who are extremely pleased with the finished project, we equally receive constant compliments from others more neutrally regarded. Those that visit are complementary about the scale of the extension and its impressive finish. The attention to detail and high quality finish that I hoped for, is present throughout. If your home is your greatest asset, leaving it in the hands of someone else demands a great deal of trust and a jump into the unknown. Based on my personal experience, I am pleased that our instinct was vindicated. Entrusting our project to John Bedford, proved to be the best decision of all.

Martin is a skilled worker, that virtually did every aspect of our two storey building extension by himself. He was involved from foundation, brick laying, roofing, steel and the interior works. He is committed to excellence in his work and cares about his reputation. He is trustworthy, as we had to leave for holiday while the work was ongoing, with everything intact when we came back. There was a slip on completion schedule, but we managed to work together to ensure the work was satisfactorily completed.

Latest review:Extensions-Very poor experience, we employed Advance to build a 2 Storey extension unfortunately we had to terminate the contract of the company at first floor joist level due to consistent issues in regards to quality of build, not reading the drawings or spec leading to incorrect materials being used or sub standard materials for the project. Protection of property and general onsite cleanliness including leaving constant food and drink on our property. We had numerous issues with labour being onsite it was a build during winter that comes with its own problems however even good days were consistently missed with no communication from the management. We had to get numerous people out to review the build as it didn’t appear the onsite management understood the basic standards and requirement for the build. Finally after agreement and release of final pay the company refused to pay the scaffolding company for the works done on our property leaving ourselves with the further issue of scaffolding after we had paid. Whilst the company gave a cheap price it was just not worth the subsequent stress and issues caused by Advance construction and their poor onsite management.
