industrial chic bedroom

Ryan Horan

I needed a storage solution for my small bedroom. Including a place to get my bike off the floor, a real trip hazard at times, haha. I love the industrial look and decided I wanted to elevate cheap OSB wood and scaffolding pole to create a stylish open industrial style wardrobe.

Using my I found a carpenter who also happened to have a degree in fine art, quite a find! We designed the structure together, he completed the woodwork whilst I painted the room and varnished the structure with clear polyurethane, giving it a hard solid gloss, bringing out all the colours of the wood and making it highly durable. We mounted my bike on the wall against an OSB panel, which looks super stylish and also can be cleaned easily.

Adding steel accessories, Edison light bulbs, copper, a flash of teal and luscious plants to dress the room elevated the style stakes. Retro artwork and bold textiles completed the look. As a final techy touch we integrated a wireless QI charging point beside the bed for cable free phone charging at night. Fun.

Proof that cheap materials can be made beautiful!
