Wow factor kitchen diner upgrade built in music cupboard in grade 2 listed cottage. Picture of old kitchen added

Caroline O'Dwyer

This was such a drab dull outdated kitchen (see last picture of old blue kitchen with massive hole covered in concrete floor). I took on a lot! I wanted to create space for family and friends to wine and dine all night long. All my own design. With help from many. Opened up the ceiling at the extension part over the sink area now vaulted giving extra height and now a fab dome shape ceiling with chandelier. Kitchen Now has crisp handless white units with quartz silver sparkle worktops. There is a beam running across the ceiling it’s high so added 3 more cupboards for extra space and hide ugly electrics. Chrome appliances not forgetting the neff hide n slide oven. Under the oven I had a drawer placed for extra pans, this space is normally just blocked off with a blanking panel. Do not let them do that, we all need extra space or your own secret drawer! Hidden fridge and freezer and hidden dishwasher. Even hidden Italian extractor fan. Smoked Mirrored splashbacks added to finish off the units. Again gives the idea of more space. Plus can just add my lippy when on the way out the door. I Added Chrome lighting and two fabulous chandeliers for the “wow factor” all on dimmers for ambience. Tall white radiator looks fabulous. Large white gloss dining table with white leather benches gives it a sense of space being bigger. Plus get lots of people round it for dining and parties. Floor to ceiling entertainment cupboard with music system just close the doors when not in use. Lovely oak flooring which gives the kitchen warmth. Nobody bothers to go into the living room they all want to be in here. Well, this is where all the action is. Not forgetting the wine! I barely ever use the living room so that stays neat all the time. I love this kitchen. It’s kid friendly too. My family and friends and their kids love it. They take pictures of it and put it on social websites, without even asking me! Anyway I’ve even put a roast in the oven to show I can cook too. I have added the odd other pictures so you can see how the dining area fits in too. Made it a bit christmassy. Well it’s not far off! This is a full family workable kitchen.
You probably think I’m loaded but I’m not. I’m totally “brassick” now and I’m desperate for another job doing but we cannot have everything. Can we? P.S. this took a lot of hard work and stress but it’s worth it now 😀 go on have a go! I love 💕 my kitchen now
PPS. Santa might bring me something nice for Christmas for all my hard work

Fabulous, bright, modern installation.... the attention to detail in the design and choice of high grade products is instantly evident ... it would have been easy to just fit a quality kitchen, this project has done that .. but has also enhanced an old property with style and functionality definitely an upgrade that will still look fantastic in years to come!

The oak flooring really sets off this beautiful example of a contemporary kitchen, whilst still keeping elements of a cottage feel to it. The high gloss gives off a clean/crispness whilst not appearing clinical in any way. The kitchen looks modern, yet very inviting and homely. The kitchen is the centre of any home and what a lovely centre this kitchen is. Well done!

Bright and contemporary sophistication. High visual impact with strong clean lines, spacious.
