After having our old bannister refurbished by a local joiner and putting in a storage cupboard, we found we had some unusable space under our stairs hence the creation of Honeys Home.
Honey is our 5 year old golden lab, she can get quite anxious when we have people round and having her little room to disappear to when she needs to is perfect. It was mostly built by my partner, Josh who is actually a welder by trade. I helped by becoming an amateur contortionist, managing to wallpaper and lay the carpet in the most awkward space ever.
The whole thing was done on a budget with mostly leftover bits from other jobs around the house and garden. We decorated the interior with some offcuts of wallpaper and carpet from our spare room and even had some leftover skirting board to make it really homely. She has all her “babies” in there as she’s never without a stuffed teddy on her travels.
Her home is instantly noticeable when you enter our hallway and we have had so many lovely comments, we would love to win the prize to help fund some lights in Honeys little home and hopefully a stair carpet so she doesn’t get a headache when we are clambering up and down the currently bare, wood stairs. Thank you :-)
* UPDATE - Honey was lucky enough to be featured in our local newspaper so we now have a the framed clipping ready to go up on the wall in her house, she’s 100% unaware she’s become a locally famous and is not embracing her celebrity lifestyle too much *
