Until I found the MyBuilder site I had been actively looking for nearly 2 years to engage a builder for this project, which despite using a number of alternative sites had led to people not responding, not showing up to estimate, or simply not following through with promised contact.
Gary, contacted me immediately after I had posted the job, rang me when promised, arranged an appointment to view, turned up when he said he was going to, spent time understanding what I wanted, provided me with a sensible cost and a clear pathway of next steps. All very impressive pre job.
Clearly a good start but of course my reservations then turned to 'is this just to get the job?'
The resounding answer to that was no. He maintained an appropriate level of contact between award and start of the contract, which provided me with confidence and no surprise when he arrived on site to start work as promised.
We had issues with the ground works, where again he provided clear advice and managed a solution which was beyond what was originally detailed, acting with speed and consideration to budget.
All progressed well and he maintained good levels of contact to ensure ongoing satisfaction. He accommodated changes to the original brief exceptionally well and nothing stopped or halted progress.
When the job was concluded he followed up and handled any issues which arose (even if they weren't directly connected to the work he had undertaken)
He project managed effectively, kept his promises, maintained appropriate levels of contact, respected budget whilst offering alternatives based on getting a good understanding of my requirements and showed genuine interest and care throughout (and after) the entire build.
My job is based in Customer Experience (not within this industry) and I am sometimes invited to speak publically on the subject. I have used Gary as an example of how to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Regardless of the outcome of this competition he should be recognised and I commend his work to the panel
