We have worked with a number of different builders doing various different home renovations, and working with Donal was - hands down - the absolute best experience. He was thoughtful, creative, considerate, and an all-round genuine, lovely person.
In addition to original ideas, exceptional quality workmanship, and excellent value for money, Donal really differentiated himself by his superior project management. He obviously put in enormous effort into planning, sequencing and scheduling each activity, and this paid off. Despite a few snags where his suppliers had delays, his thoughtful organisation meant that there were no impacts that affected his overall timeline (or us) in any way. This really meant a lot in a project where we were living in the property while work was going on, and Donal managed to limit the time our kitchen was out of commission to just a couple of days.
One particular incident really stood out to us. A tile supplier had delivered tiles for the back splash, and when Donal opened them he noticed a minuscule manufacturing defect where there was an extremely faint line running through. Before calling us to let us know, he called up the tile company, got them to refund the cost of the tiles, and got them to agree to let us keep them and decide if we were okay with the line or if we wanted a replacement. When we came home, we came home to a number of solutions instead of a problem - what more can you ask for!
We have already recommended him to everyone we know, and really hope he grows his business because the UK needs more building professionals (and people) like him. We just could not recommend him more highly, and really believe he deserves to win Job of the Year!

It sounds like Donal was really solutions focussed and went out of his way to present his clients with solutions, even before they knew they had a problem! Remodelling a kitchen is usually stressful work but it looks like Donal made it much easier for his clients, which is all one really wants from a builder.

I liked the examples of Donal being a solutions-focused operator rather than leaving too many difficult decisions to Tanvi. It shows he is both capable and empathetic during a time of high stress for those getting home renovations done.
