Ref: Petro Verai.
We initially requested three quotations from myBuilder and another from a craftsman we had previously used and to whom we would have normally given our work. Unfortunately, his small firm had been taken over by a larger company, whose estimator seem only to be interested in working out reasons for inflating his quote.
We had never met Petro before, but felt reassured when he asked for print outs of our designs for the family bathroom, the en suite shower and cloakroom. He took these away with him and emailed a comprehensive quote within three days. This was in stark contrast to the builder who came to the house and who, without really listening to what we wanted, automatically said that the price would be £13000.00 plus vat, (Pietro’s quote was slightly more expensive when we added in the cost of materials, but when we saw the quality of his work we decided to replace an existing ceramic floor with one to match the wall tiles).
We had already purchased all the units and tiles we wanted fitting, so his quotation was predominantly for labour, and although he over ran by a couple of days his final bill was as per his original quotation plus the addition of the extra flooring. Whenever he had to purchase materials, he always ensured that we received a copy of the invoice for our records, and never attempted to inflate the totals even though he had to frequently drive to collect items.
He always arrived on time and worked conscientiously with a concern for the quality of his work, which was reflected in the level of his general craftsmanship. His timekeeping was excellent as was his work ethic, he only took the shortest of breaks for lunch and the occasional cup of tea as provided by my wife.
Everything he approached was dealt with care and precision, be it plumbing, flooring, fitting of units or painting and finishing. He treated our home with respect by clearing up at the end of each day and covering every surface within the working area with plastic. His tiling and was exemplary and even more important he knew just what was needed to protect the walls from possible damp penetration, indeed the area containing the showers could have served as wet rooms.
His has my unqualified support, and would recommend his honesty, work ethic and technical prowess to anyone.
