When David came to evaluate the first job he did (to plaster a ceiling which had wallpaper on it), he looked very carefully at the ceiling and its condition and, unlike others who quoted, said he thought he'd be able to take the wallpaper off, which would mean that the ceiling could be skimmed. Others said they probably wouldn't be able to do that and, consequently, their quotes (which were for plasterboarding over existing ceiling) were much, much higher. I agreed with David that if it did prove difficult to go this route we'd go the plasterboard route. As it happened, he got the paper off and skimmed the ceiling and it looks great. In addition, while he was working in the room, a sideboard which had been attached to the wall by a relation of mine fell off(!) and without any fuss or extra charge he made sure it was properly affixed to the wall with appropriate screws. It's still there, safe and sound! The second job he did for me was to skim a kitchen which was being refitted. The electrician had dug out conduits for cables, and had very roughly skimmed over. The work had been done very poorly and although he commented on it, David got on and tidied it up, for which I was very grateful. He's a very amenable person and I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending him to others. He's punctual, respectful and a tidy worker.
