Our builder walked out half way during our single storey extension despite paying £26000 and doing a lot of the work ourselves. We had been out of our home for 21weeks and had a 2 year we needed to get back home. We had no money left and had to borrow it causing us to go into debt but we had to as we had a half secured chipboard floor on top of our underfloor heating. Local tilers were saying weeks of waiting. Then came Steve to our rescue. He gave us a good price which I think he underpriced because of our situation despite having a young family and baby on the way, he scheduled his diary so that he could start as soon as possible, he worked very hard and was very tidy, he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, he was flexible and trusting on payments, he rectified as many of the builders errors he could and even write a report for us to help in our court case against the builder. He is one of the nicest people you can meet and he gave me my trust back for tradesmen generally. I want to show him that kindness and hard work will come back two fold and won’t be forgotten. He is a deserved winner of the money and know he wishes to expand his business. Whether it can be injected into his future plans or give him and his family a nice holiday it would be money well spent. For self employed people holiday are either non existent or financially stressful so it would be nice to give him that break.
