My Husband and I had a whim. We wanted a hidden door, a secret bookcase door, the kind you see on Scooby Doo or Harry Potter. We had the perfect place to put one. Our house had been extended 20 years ago to create what has apparently been both a Doctor’s consulting room and then a granny annex. It had a strange layout and needed a rethink. Our office was in a large door-less area in this space and was a perfect place to install a partition wall with a secret book case door.
Not knowing really where to start, having only seen various designs on the internet, we decided to post the job on my builder. To my surprise, we only received two responses. Luckily one of the people to respond was Rich Cash of PR renovations. He responded because it sounded fun, and he immediately arranged to come to our house to measure up and suggest some designs.
He put together some design ideas and an estimate, and he seemed so enthusiastic about our plans, that we decided to put our faith in him. Luckily, we’re really glad we did.
We now have the most amazing secret office. From the outside it looks like a set of recessed shelves (yes – they do hold REAL books) but push on the left hand door and you enter our hidden control centre …..
Rich designed these doors for free as part of the estimate. He was everything you would want from a contractor in your home – polite, cheerful, punctual, communicative, tidy (immaculately tidy) and stuck to his quote – no unexpected increases. I wouldn’t hesitate to use him again – he usually does who house renovations, so this was a small but quirky job for him and I think he was quite proud of it !
