Picture the scene, it's the height of winter and the boiler is playing up yet again. An interment fault had meant our old boiler was becoming increasingly more unreliable and another cold shower was on the cards. One of the reasons I had put off a repair or replacement was down to a previous bad experience with a heating engineer. I didn’t really want a repeat experience but it was time to bite the bullet. I had used 'mybuilder.com' previously for a ceiling skim, the process was effortless, I posted the job…I was contacted by a number of tradesmen…I read reviews from previous customers which then enabled me to make an informed decision and I was more than happy with the results.
Was it a fluke? Should I use the website again for my boiler? Why not I thought, give it go. I posted the Job and was pleased to by contact by a number of heating engineers. The first two were local and asked could they contact me to discuss the Job.
Tim Logan was the first to make contact, he was polite and informative on the phone and we discussed a number of options, Tim agreed to come around the next day to survey and give his opinion and estimate on a repair.
Tim arrived on time, which in my book is always a good start. He was polite and professional and proceeded to spend a full hour (at least) testing various parts of the boiler. There was no rush and Tim was more than happy to explain in detail what he was looking at and why.
At the end of the survey, Tim gave me some options, these were explained carefully and in terms I could understand. Because of the age of the boiler, the parts needed, the labour and the chance of further failure it was suggested a repair may have been cheaper in the short term but more costly in the long-run as further components were sure to fail.
Tim got the boiler running, short term…I was given a quote for a full repair or replacement with advice on boiler size, cost, possible energy saving etc…Tim concluded by leaving me his card incase I needed any further advice and shook my hand and left, what !!! No hard sell or sucking in of cheeks… what!!! No inflated bill for a survey and estimate, nothing at all, I wasn’t charged anything for the full hour that he spent at the property.
Later that evening, I received a call from a second tradesman who suggested he would be happy to come and give me a quote he would need to survey the existing system, it would take around an hour and that would be a cost of £70 including VAT to provide an estimate…needless to say I booked Tim Logan the next day.
I decided on a boiler replacement, the suggested boiler had an 8 year guarantee, supply and fit was a very reasonable price (I phoned around to try and get it cheaper, no chance) and Tim was able to work around me.
The day of fitting Tim and his apprentice turned up on time, they completed a pressure check on the system first and found a minor leak, they also found a fault on our outdated gas meter and promptly called British Gas who were at the property within the hour. The team were clean, tidy and professional, any questions I asked were answered with ultimate patience and a can do attitude.
When the job was completed and the boiler was being primed Tim took a lot of time explaining how the boiler worked, going through the specs and operational materials, nothing was too much trouble.
I cannot express my delight at the finished job, our heating has never worked so well, but most of all I felt Tim went the extra mile at every point, I cannot recommend his workmanship and customer service enough other than a warm house and hot water you would never have known they had been here.
I do not hesitate to recommend Tim Logan for the Job of the year award based on his excellent work, his attention to detail and his wonderful customer service.
