Job of the Year

Huge congratulations to Ellouise Hempstead and her MyBuilder tradesman Martin Robinson of MJO Limited, in Lincolnshire.

Ellouise nominated Martin for the expertise, dedication, energy and generosity he brought to her challenging renovation project.

“Martin has taken our dream and made it his own. He’s worked with us to understand what we need, what we want, and what we’d love (but don’t think we can afford) and he’s helped us to make those things a reality. He’s an honest and reliable builder, who cares about his customers, and wants their project to be a success.”

totally new kitchen

My home is a very small 200+ year old terrace cottage; everything about it is a bit odd. I chose Toby to do the work for me as he measured the kitchen, noted that ‘off the shelf ‘units would not fit, unlike other contractors I invited, and offered a design that would make the most of the small space. He then customised cupboards and shelves to fit perfectly, giving me more storage and space for a slim line dishwasher. He also noted that I am only 5ft tall and fitted the wall cupboards at a height that suits me . That is real customer care.
This was not an easy job – he took down and replaced a lathe and plaster ceiling, laid a new floor, enclosed wall mounted water pipes, sorted out a very peculiar plumbing system and liaised with my Gas Safe certified plumber to ensure all fittings accorded with current regulations.
Toby organised delivery of units, oven, hob, dishwasher so they arrived when he was ready to fit them so my tiny house was not overwhelmed with stuff. He also ensured that, every evening, I was left with a clean and tidy space.
I am proposing Toby for ‘job of the year’ as he was willing to take on a very difficult project in a small house, which will never feature in Homes and Gardens, but he took as much care as he would have in a stately home.
