Bill was recommended to me by someone I didn't know, I hadn't seen his work, so employed him on instinct. He came to see me, and when he did, my sitting room was totally full and yet he managed to measure and draw a very accurate floor plan. The house is over 300 years old, the ground floor is flat but the room required a jigsaw of pieces to be put together, which Bill did beautifully. However, the stairs are as wonky as they could be. They have been repaired countless times, spliced and hammered and screwed. The woodworm residue is what holds them together! THe landing is as uneven as a crazy paved path and Bill has managed to do a superb job. The stairs and landing are fabulous. We both agreed that the bullnose should be left bare, as it is on the point of collapse and no amount of covering in carpet would rescue it. (I shall be looking for a carpenter to fix this!!) Bill altered his schedule to fit in with mine, by almost a month. He worked so hard and dilligently for over 8 hours. Stopped only for a quick lunch which I made him and drank only water throughout the day. I was so impressed. There was none of the 'just popping out for a quick fag/phone call etc' - he remained on site all day; took no calls and was brilliant. I felt totally confident leaving him in our home on his own and would absolutely recommend him to anyone. On top of that, he's a lovely lad. Clean, tidy, thorough and even if he doesn't win, at least it gives me the opportunity to praise him again!!
