upstairs renovation: plastering, flooring etc

High Wycombe

After buying an uncared for 1800s cottage with lime plaster falling off both the upstairs walls and ceilings, and little if any insulation, we had a vision to renovate and restore the original architectural features of our house.
We hired the services of Pool Plastering and from the start, Richard was upfront and honest with us and we agreed that because of the heritage and nature of the house, we had to be prepared to expect the unexpected!
Richard worked tirelessly to renovate and replaster upstairs with modern day material while maintaining the natural character. He was flexible with our wishes, for example after discovering some beautiful original beam work in one of the walls he worked to ensure they were exposed but also insulated.
His team further discovered a brick fire place which we now have as a sense of pride on display in one of our bedrooms. During the discovery of the fireplace, Richard uncovered the fact the chimney flu was damaged and actually unsafe. He was conscientious and ensured the safety of our family in his work.
We now have three beautiful rooms upstairs- all different but all reminiscent of an 1800s cottage with artistic beam and woodwork on display, characterised plaster and sanded down floors. The most important part is that we are also incredibly warm- thanks to the insulation that Richard installed!
A great job well done, we are so happy!
