PRIZE MONEY WILL HELP PENZANCE GYM CLUB AND A LOCAL HOMELESS CHARITY.
David Hirons certainly went that extra mile for us when he responded to an urgent request that I posted on the 'mybuilder' website last year.
Another contractor had been due to carry out some work for me but by this point I had been waiting more than six weeks beyond the supposed start date and still nothing was happening.
Time was now in very short supply and the whole project schedule was in jeopardy.
In the vague hope that someone would come to the rescue, I placed my job requirements on line with MyBuilder on a Monday knowing full well that the best contractors are usually booked up weeks or even months ahead.
Not this time - By the following day David had responded through the web site. A quick exchange of contact details and he arranged to call around. By the afternoon David's quotation to complete the re-building of the base walls for our recently 'tree crushed' Victorian greenhouse had arrived in my email 'In Box'. His price quoted was lower than that of the guy that never started - so I accepted.
David and his two colleagues were on site early the following morning and his best expectation was to finish by Thursday night - weather permitting.
David was due to travel to France on Saturday!
The weather did hold and the job was completed on the Thursday. We were back on schedule and our joiners were able to crack on with the next phase of the project on the following Monday after all.
Invoice received - exactly as quoted. Paid the same day with great satisfaction.
David was due to travel 300 miles to France but before he did so he went that extra mile to get our project back on track.
Thank you David and bon voyage.
(If I am lucky enough to win, my prize will be donated to local community causes including Penzance Gym Club and the St. Petrocs Society who help the homeless in our area).
