Having moved to our little street a year ago, we absolutely love it. The children play out the front of the houses, knock round for each other, and generally live like its the 1950s! We've tried really hard over the last year to put as much love as possible into the house. However, unfortunately our garden is a bit of a disaster (I was told 'our' priority was always the house). The best we could get to was cutting back about 5 years of neglect- generally in terms of thorn bushes, weeds and bamboo! (In truth that did make a massive difference- it's looks bigger and has less ouchies) We've stripped things away but are at a loss at what to do (when we think of good ideas, we're reminded of a mini budget). So any good ideas for outdoor space for the kids and adults to spend time in- ideally with a fire pit so we can get the most from the British summer- would be great. We also need some help with drainage as we live at the bottom of a hill. When we get heavy rain it runs off the 10 gardens or so up the hill and collects in ours! We found this out in the April floods as our garden was under water (about 2-3 inches) for 3 consecutive days. We were so worried the house would flood we went old school and created a manual siphon with 15 meters of garden hose. It sucked water off for 2 days straight! The photo shows what is was like after we'd removed the water, but it's definitely wellies or waders in heavy rain. If you think you could help or want to show a little love and vote for us we'd really appreciate it. Thanks
