Since me and my girlfriend have moved into our new house we have really struggled to get on top of the garden. I am in the army, and my girlfriend is a hairdresser. Since moving in 3 years ago, I have been posted down south and was only managing to get home one weekend a month. We had our son a year after moving in, which has meant my partner couldn't get out in the garden much. We have a very large front and back garden, which we have tried to tame, even to the point of getting a gardener in to help with some of the weeding and such. We have had a decking built and a drive way installed, but the moss on the grass, the weeds in the borders, and the numerous other things, have meant we have really struggled. When I leave the army I get an end of tour 'golden handshake' and we had planned to spend some of that to get on top of the garden and bring it to a manageable level. If we won this makeover it would allow our garden to be a place where we could take our son to enjoy himself, rather than a constant reminder of how little time we have together and how much needs done to it. As you will see from the pictures, we have tried, and we are not shy of some graft in the garden, unfortunately it's just too much to get a decent foothold into it. We need help.
