I have arthritis and my husband was diagnosed with cancer this year. Only being in our early 50s we took the decision to retire and make the most of life. Being a teacher and, latterly, a head I have always encouraged children to garden, showing them how to grow their own vegetables even if they only had a balcony or back yard. Over the years my own garden has had to ‘make do’ with a quick lawn cut and strim as time has been limited. Now I have the time I don’t have the physical means to do what I would love. I would love raised beds for vegetables, a wild flower area for insects and easy access for the grandchildren to develop their love of the outdoors.
