I am The Manager of Acredale Day Centre, situated in Mid Street Bathgate. The Centre opened on the 25th of August 1962, the people of Bathgate raised the money to purchase the centre. We offer a Day Care Service to 25 older people daily, from Bathgate and surrounding areas. A large percentage of our Service Users have a diagnosis of Dementia. Our garden area has sadly been neglected over the past few years, after our volunteer gardener could no longer assist, (albeit that it is still a nice area) parts are becoming over grown and unkempt, our garden furniture is tired. The Men's Sheds group ( Armadale ) have very kindly repaired the bird table and barbecue and have built us some raised planters, we would like to develop a small kitchen garden and produce some home grown veg etc., that we could use in our kitchen. We use the garden during the better weather for an array of outdoor activities. It would be wonderful to have the area revamped in time for the summer months as I'm sure you will agree some time spent outside in a nice area during a sunny day brings an array of mental and physical health benefits to everyone.

Good luck, anything that can help those suffering with dementia should be encouraged

Acredale is just superb. My mum loves her days at Acredale and chats about how lovely the staff are and how they work so hard to keep their clients happy. It would be lovely for them to have someone do the garden. So so deserving.
